Questions

Hand assembly, explained

General notes

  1. What is hand assembly?

Hand assembly is a manual form of package production that is not reliant on machinery. Sometimes, orders need to be assembled by people. Although automation is becoming increasingly popular, hand assembly is still the standard for delicate products or high-end items that require a personal touch.

    Hand assembly allows for:

    • Careful packing. This is especially important for tightly packed kits or delicate materials that cannot be easily packed by a machine.
    • Detailed finishing. Glue gunning, ribbons and price tags are all too intricate for machines, and convey a level of care that makes a positive impact on customers.
    • Customization. People can change the build from one order to the next without retooling a machine, which suits kits that change seasonally.
  2. Do people oversee the machine lines too?

Yes. No machine is ever operated without the care and oversight of the MGA team. Throughout the process we complete hands-on assembly tasks, on top of the inspection, testing and final approval of your product packaging.

  3. What happens when a mailpiece is too complex for the inserting machines?

For shipments our machines can’t handle, our team hand-assembles the package. See lettershop for the full sequence of mail operations.
